Our latest Rebrand – Cogs & Marvel

The Pudding embarked on a rebrand journey with Cogs & Marvel, formerly Green Light Events late 2016. Over the past six months our journey included auditing, strategy, a new name to better represent the company, a new brand identity which included both written and visual communication and a new website. Read on to discover the fantastic results.

As Cogs & Marvel evolved since their establishment in 2006, growing its workforce from 16 people to 40 people and revenues rising to almost €18m (£15.3m) from €10m (£8.5m) in 2015, they wanted to review their brand prior to their expansion into the US and develop a winning strategy for the future. This is where we came in, helping create clarity for an already great brand and developing the visual and written communication to compliment and to better tell the world!

Following the brand audit and strategy it was established that the name Green Light Events was not communicating the brand’s greatest assets; the ability to be both a great logistical events company and a fantastic creative brand experience agency. New values were established; Bold, Creative, Energetic and Curious. And so, Cogs & Marvel was born.

The Story:

Their visual identity called for a solution that could handle this robust yet delicate mix. A minimal, sleek typeface was chosen to represent the calculated and considered approach that Cogs & Marvel implement in all areas of business. While the dynamic ampersand, linking the two, demands your attention and emphasises how this agency mix the two with ease.

Taking inspiration from the contrasting left and right brain, we created a structure which would facilitate a visual exploration of these opposites. A colour palette was selected based on contrasting qualities and plain blocks of colour were paired with bold patterns and vivid photography in order to offer a narrative for the brand. This strict left and right division is however extremely flexible and allows Cogs & Marvel to be curious within its visual identity and explore an endless amount of possibilities.

The website brings it all together, it is a fantastic shop-window for the brand. Its main purpose is to give life to the pairing of Cogs & Marvel’s great skills, the unique selling point of their brand. We did this through great copy, design and imagery all combined in a sleek, simple to use and navigate website with elements of animation to add to the Wow.

We loved every minute of this project and can’t wait to see exciting things from Cogs & Marvel in the future. The Proof really is in The Pudding.
